As Colorado's only public urban research university, we have a commitment to research excellence. CU Denver is recognized as an R1 research university, as measured by the Carnegie Classification. This is the highest level of university research activity, an accomplishment that indicates our commitment to promoting graduate education through the doctoral level and to attracting faculty who conduct advanced research. Our focus on research also gives undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in ongoing projects with faculty.
