About the Class

This interactive class is designed to provide basic information for individuals with access and functional needs, their families and their caregivers on how to prepare for and respond to disasters. Participants will learn how to make a plan, build a kit and stay informed through discussion-based content and hands on activities. This class is currently offered virtually and will take place in 2 parts.

Important Note: This class is offered in both English and Spanish.

Target Audience

Individuals with access and functional needs, their families and their caregivers.

Objectives

  • Understand the term emergency preparedness and response
  • Understand what emergency managers do
  • Discuss hazards, disasters and disruptions
  • Understand CMIST
  • Discuss specific emergency responses
  • Create a communication plan
