English as a Second Language (ESL) Academy at the University of Colorado Denver not only prepares you for English language proficiency, but it also supports your complete success as a University of Colorado Denver student. Located on the Auraria campus, the ESL Academy has two different offerings: the Intensive English Program and the LynxDirect Pathway Program.
ESL Academy's Intensive English Program (IEP) mirrors the academic culture and rigor of the university. The ESL Academy provides outstanding, innovative instruction and cultural enrichment in an English-immersion environment to university-bound students.
The curriculum integrates English proficiency, accuracy in written and oral expression, and content studies with the scholarly and interpersonal skills required to be a successful CU Denver student. International applicants may meet the English language
proficiency requirement for any program of study at CU Denver by successfully completing every class in level 5 of the IEP.
The LynxDirect Pathway Program provides an accelerated route into your degree program that builds your English language skills while you save time and money. LynxDirect is offered in the fall (August) and spring (January) semesters. The program starts with guaranteed admission to the highest level (level 5) in the Intensive English Program. After completing IEP courses, you will take two undergraduate credit-bearing courses that fulfill core graduation requirements for your major.
