Assistive Technology

A variety of assistive technologies are available through Disability Resources and Services based on approved accommodations. These technologies include but are not limited to:

  • Text to Speech and Reading/Writing Software
  • Access to Electronic, Accessible Textbooks
  • Magnification and Screen Reading Software
  • Dictation (Speech to Text) Software
  • Note-Taking and Recording Software and Hardware
  • Listening Devices (Personal FM Systems)
  • Video and Post- Production Captioning (for course materials)

Access to some of these technologies is based on approved academic accommodations. If a student is approved for assistive technology accommodations, their Coordinator will provide an AT Referral to the AT Coordinator.

The AT Coordinator will then contact the student via email and/or phone to review AT resources and technologies that are available. This review usually takes place during a one-on-one meeting either in person or Zoom with the AT Coordinator or an Accessibility Support Assistant.
