Gathering and analyzing market intelligence from a variety of reliable sources is a critical step in program decision-making. Our goal is to provide scalable service options that meet campus, school, department, and faculty needs for market data to help us make decisions that are aligned to both campus and school strategic goals, as well as market trends, program interest and demand; and opportunities at the local, regional and national levels. Market intelligence services will be inclusive of all types of program inquiry, including programs of all formats and modalities.
Market intelligence (MI) is an activity where data is gathered, analyzed, and reported about market trends, competitors, and customers. Our MI team has access to a number of resources that can inform the strategies for the program at CU Denver. Areas of potential interest to our programs include trends in conferrals, competitor characteristics, and employment outlook (e.g., job posting trends, companies hiring, and associated skills). Such information can inform many decisions, such as estimating the expected interest in new degree or microcredential programs, aligning existing degree programs with market needs, and identifying industry partners, to name a few.
We will be creating reports and sharing high level analyses of market trends for areas of high opportunity for CU Denver at the school/college level. This service will also be available on request for broader data needs (example: conferral trends for specific graduate level degree)
We will be providing market intelligence for new programs via a new request/interest form located on our website (TBA). These reports will include multiple data types and are intended to help the campus, schools, and departments make informed decisions about new launching new programs.
This process will also be conducted in collaboration with university Budget Office and OIRE in order to help our partners have a view on their new programs from multiple angles. (see the Decision Support Toolkit)
We will be offering targeted market intelligence services for existing programs that would like to refresh, rebrand, or refocus toward current market trends and opportunities. Analyses and recommendations may include anything from repositioning program titles to highlighting different skills in a given course or program.
To request market intelligence services, please follow the steps below. Please note that the length of time required for the process depends on a number of factors, including the breadth and depth of the request, the number of concurrent requests, and other competing priorities.
The process begins with learning about the information need. This begins by providing some basic information through email and (request form coming soon!). In the meantime, please send your request to the following email address, Jeremy.lingle@ucdenver.edu, to share about your interest in MI and to schedule a time to meet.
Many of the nuances about your request will be understood through this first conversation of our team with you. This is also an opportunity for you to learn more about the process. From this conversation will be able to refine our efforts to provide more useful information to you.
Insights from the MI efforts will be reported to the requestors. This currently takes the form of a written report, but may also take other forms depending on the need. We would also like to meet to discuss the findings as well as to hear the feedback and interpretations of the program experts. This meeting may result in further refinement of the report.
If you would like to connect for a conversation to learn more about market intelligence, we'd love to speak with you and learn more about your needs and interest! There is no charge for these services.
Please contact Jeremy Lingle, Director of Microcredentials, at Jeremy.lingle@ucdenver.edu to schedule a time to meet.
