Assistive Technology devices and resources are available for loan to all Colorado’s Public Schools with an updated SWAAAC Team Agreement. The SWAAAC AT Loan Library contains over 1500 assistive technology devices and resources, including switches, mounts, AAC devices, adapted curricula, executive function supports, computer access supports, and so much more! Don't see what you're looking for? Send us a request!
Most school districts and/or BOCES have designated AT service providers and a SWAAAC Team Coordinator. Team Coordinators as well as a small number of specially trained Early Intervention Consultants are able to login and check out items from our loan library. If you need help identifying your Team Coordinator or Early Intervention Consultant, please contact Christina Perkins (christina.perkins@ucdenver.edu).
SWAAAC teams are required to turn in a SWAAAC Team Agreement & Loan Library Policies contract signed by the current Special Education Director, Team Coordinator, and and delegates in order to access the loan library. If you are an approved patron on the Loan Library, please see our Introduction to the Assistive Technology Loan Library presentation to learn more about placing requests and using the library.
We require loan library borrowers to complete a number of surveys during the course of your loan. We apologize for the time this takes; however, it is necessary for us to comply with reporting requirements and improve library services and supports.
Our Loan Library FAQ page has answers to many other questions you may have.
To view a list of all available loan library items, go to our on-line Alexandria Loan Library Catalog. The SWAAAC Loan Library catalog details all the inventory currently available to SWAAAC team members. Alexandria is searchable by anyone (teachers, caregivers, family members, related service professionals). It is a great resource of information including descriptions and features of devices, purchase price, and a picture of the item(s). Assistive Technology service providers can direct AT stakeholders/clientele/consumers to Alexandria in order to preview potential AT supports.
Items are only able to be checked out by designated professionals with login access. School district SWAAAC Team Coordinators and Early Intervention Specialists use the Alexandria Loan Library Catalog to request equipment loans. If you represent a child with a disability and do not have login credentials, but would like to request a device loan, please contact your local SWAAAC Team Coordinator or EI Specialist. Loans are subject to local policy and made at the discretion of the designated local professionals.
For item checkout-related issues, please contact Brenda Ortega (brenda.ortega@ucdenver.edu).
