On-campus resources
There are a number of resources and services available to faculty and students at the Downtown Auraria Campus. Some of these services are campus-wide, meaning they are available to other Auraria Campus students and faculty as well.
LGBTQ Student Resource Center
The LGBTQ Student Resource Center is a tri-institutional office on the Auraria Campus serving the students, faculty and staff of Metropolitan State University of Denver, Community College of Denver and University of Colorado at Denver. You may get in touch with the center via their website.
Phoenix Center at Auraria | Anschutz
The Phoenix Center provides free and confidential resources and assistance to survivors of interpersonal violence (relationship violence, sexual violence, and stalking), as well as their friends, families, and concerned others. The Phoenix Center hosts a 24/7 Free and Confidential Helpline at 303-556-CALL (2255). You may also schedule an appointment on their website.
Office of Equity
The Office of Equity (OE) was created to integrate all complaints of protected characteristic harassment and/or discrimination or sexual misconduct. The protected characteristics at the University of Colorado Denver are: race, color, national origin, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, religion, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, veteran status, political affiliation, and political philosophy.
Ombuds Office
The Ombuds Office will provide a safe, neutral, informal, personal and confidential resource for all members of the university community. All students, staff, and faculty who may be experiencing difficulties of any nature may contact the Ombuds Office. The Ombuds Office will not reveal confidences and identities of the individuals who consult with this office without the express permission to do so.
Auraria Campus Police Department
The Auraria Campus has a dedicated, full-service police department, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The main number for emergency dispatch is 303-556-5000. It is not a bad idea to add this number to your mobile phone contacts. In case of emergency, you may also call 911.
Counseling Center
The CU Denver Student and Community Counseling Center provides mental health counseling services to CU Denver Students as well as the Denver Metro community. Counseling sessions are free of charge to CU Denver students. Faculty and community members pay a fee according to salary and number of dependents.
Women and Gender Center
The Women & Gender Center (WGC) at CU Denver is committed to advancing issues of gender equity and supporting the gender-focused needs of students, faculty, and staff on the Auraria campus. The mission of the Women and Gender Center is to address gender inequities and foster a campus community that values inclusion, social justice, equity, and respect for everyone regardless of background and experience. Safe Zone Training
Safe Zone training makes it possible to easily identify individuals who are empathetic and informed about GLBT issues and who are willing and able to provide support, information, and confidentiality. Safe Zone trainings occur periodically on the Auraria Campus, organized by the LGBTQ Student Resource Center or the Inclusive Excellence Committees.

Sponsored Events
There are a number of sponsored events on campus each year focusing on LGBTQ+ issues. The LGBTQ+ Faculty Assembly Committee sponsors a welcome event, Something Queer, early in the fall semester. This event, sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, is an annual gathering of LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and allies to kick off the new school year.
There is also an annual University of Colorado system-wide symposium on inclusion typically scheduled for the middle of fall semester (late October or early November). The LGBTQ Resource Center on campus also sponsors events on campus. The best way to get connected is to join their email list.

Off-campus events of note include Denver’s PrideFest, World AIDS Day, and National Coming Out Day.
