Lulu Alsalem, who graduated in 2016 from the ESL Academy, University of Colorado Denver, was pleased to discover how well the Academy had prepared her for university when she entered classes at CU Denver’s College of Engineering and Applied Science in Fall 2016. Naturally, she shared the good news with her younger brother, Doaij, who was living in Kuwait and interested in earning a dentistry degree in the United States. Learning Arabic: Growth & Transformation of My Worldview

Although different languages may share similar words or derivatives, learning another language can still be challenging; Arabic, for example, takes an average of at least 88 weeks of classroom study for a native English speaker to acquire proficiency. Reflections from Berlin: Returnees Share Lessons on Sustainability

Traditional Paper Book Reading Must Never Die
Apr 1, 2014When Andy Warhol said, “I never read. I just look at pictures,” perhaps he foresaw the information age’s inevitable impacts on people’s traditional reading style. According to the China National Reading Survey from 1999 to 2011, the average number of paper books Chinese adults read per year in 2011 was only 4.35 compared to 6.64 in 1999. However, the national multimedia reading has increased dramatically from 3.70% to 77.60% during the past twelve years.
