Intermittent Sitefinity outages expected this weekend
CU Denver Student Journey site launches and ucdenver.edu domain change to cause intermittent Sitefinity outages
Chloe Rankin | OIT, Web Services Jun 23, 2020During the weekend of June 26, the OIT Web Services and Dev/Ops teams are changing the ucdenver.edu web domain and launching numerous websites affiliated with the CU Denver student journey web experience, which encompass the central university site and student services sites.
The ucdenver.edu domain change is necessary as we draw closer to end of the CMS Transition project from Sharepoint to Sitefinity. Sharepoint uses the www. domain, and Sitefinity required the use of the www1. domain.
When the CU Denver student journey launch on July 1, the majority of the websites will be in Sitefinity making the domain change for websites in Sitefinity possible to operate on www.
IMPORTANT – In support of this effort, we ask that web site owners refrain from editing Sharepoint or Sitefinity sites during the following window to minimize the potential risk of losing content updates:
Friday, June 26, 5 p.m. – Monday, June 29, 6 a.m.
At the end of your work day on Friday June 26, please:
1. Publish all pages ready for presentation
2. Set all other pages to draft mode
3. Make sure no pages or content items are locked
4. Close down any browser sessions that have Sitefinity open
We hope this editing pause will have minimal impact to students, faculty, and staff, and the services we provide.
Please plan accordingly for any work you plan to do that weekend.
There will be intermittent outages throughout the weekend as the domain and sites are transitioned.
We apologize for any inconvenience this planned outage may cause.
If you have questions or if you experience any issues following the change, please contact the OIT Service Desk at 303-724-4357 or email websitehelp@ucdenver.edu.
