May 2020 Sitefinity Release
Kali Karakasidou | Office of Information Technology May 27, 2020Navigation Updates
Global Links / Big Three: These three or so links that on desktop appear next to “Quick Links” and as the big icons on the bottom of the mobile web page will now, on mobile web, move below the Quick Links toggle. Search is included in this and will become a drawer/slide out on MW. If you want to customize your Big Three for your site, please submit a ticket for OIT. To learn more about this change, please visit: https://www.ucdenver.edu/atweb/learnsitefinity/pages.
Customization of CU Denver Homepage & Critical Path pages: to support the CU Denver Student Journey Web Experience, we’ve created a new page template for all pages and microsites within SJWE scope. Features in this new template include the CU in the city logo, audience navigation links, and the removal of local header.
Side navigation on mobile web: on mobile web, the side navigation will now condense under an “Additional Navigation” drop down and will move to the top of the page. It will attach to the breadcrumb container and replace breadcrumbs. However, breadcrumbs will continue to show on mobile web if side navigation doesn’t exist on that page. To learn more about side navigation, please visit: https://www.ucdenver.edu/atweb/learnsitefinity/site-set-up/navigation.
New features, content types, and widgets
Customizable page navigation CTAs: to help optimize for page goals, you can now add a call-to-action (CTA) to your local header! This CTA can be customized for each page via page settings. For a walk through of setting this up for your page, please visit: https://www.ucdenver.edu/atweb/learnsitefinity/pages.
Contact content type: this reusable content type will allow you to add non-authoritative contact information to your pages. To learn more about this content type, please visit: https://www.ucdenver.edu/atweb/learnsitefinity/widgets/contact-widget.
Enhanced navigation template: this new navigation template combines the “more” button and the flyout features of Priority Plus and Horizontal Navigation template. It’s recommended that you use this navigation template when you have a lot of pages in your top-level navigation in order to avoid bad wrapping and fly-out scenarios. To learn more about our navigation templates, please visit: https://www.ucdenver.edu/atweb/learnsitefinity/site-set-up/navigation.
Enhancements to current features, content types, and widgets
Facts & Figures: for external links, the new default experience is that they now open in new tabs.
Checklist phases: to help with interlinking, each checklist phase will now have a custom URL to it so that you can anchor / link to that specific phase on other pages. All you have to do is copy and paste it! To learn more on how to do this, please visit: https://www.ucdenver.edu/atweb/learnsitefinity/widgets/checklist-phases-widget
Tertiary CTA color change: through user testing it was determined that our white & black tertiary CTA color did not resonate with users. So, we’ve made the tertiary CTA default color be gray background so that it’s more obvious it’s a link.
Newsroom detail view: we received feedback from our CU Denver & CU Anschutz site builders about some limitations of the new newsroom detail view, which included a highlighted horizontal full-width hero image template. We’ve reverted the default behavior for the detail view to use whatever image size you added and then created a new detail template for this hero image treatment.
